ICOG was formed in 1984 as an academic wing of FOGSI. It is Governed by a Governing Council which is elected every 3 years. Over the years the activities have increased & it is fulfilling its role in bringing academic excellence to FOGSI.

ICOG welcomes all FOGSI Members to join as Fellows, Academic Fellows or Members. The criteria and application forms are given herewith.

ICOG also welcome all FOGSI members to participate in all its other activities which are listed herewith.

ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2007

The ICOG has had a busy and exciting year.  There have been several new activities introduced.  The earlier activities of conducting CME’s and Symposia have continued.

We present herewith a brief report of the all the activities.

  1. FOGSI – ICOG DR. C L JHAVERI ENDOWMENT SYMPOSIUM  2008
    FOGSI-ICOG Dr. C.L. Jhaveri Symposium was held at 51st AICOG at New Delhi on 3rd February 2008 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
    Topic:   “Current Perspectives on Pregnancy Induced Hypertension”
    Speakers  :  Dr.Pratap Kumar, Manipal, Dr.Shyam Desai, Mumbai, Dr.Adi Dastur, Mumbai, Dr.Swaraj Batra, Faridabad and Dr. Vandana Walvekar, Mumbai

  2. CMEs 2007:
    Total 9 CMEs were conducted at

  1. DR. C. S.DAWN GUEST LECTURE 2007:
    On 25th March 2007, Dr. Narendra Malhotra delivered the lecture at Guwahati.  Dr.Sadhna Desai was to give 2008 lecture but it has not been held yet.

  2. EMOCs
    There are 14 EMOC tertiary training centres in 12 states of the country.  By the end of this year, there will be 4 functioning nodal centres for training of master trainers, with the technical assistance from JHPIEGO. JHPIEGO has continued their technical support for EMOC programme for one more year.

  3. FOGSI-ICOG SATELLITE SCHOOL
    Report by Dr.Duru Shah, Convenor
    The FOGSI-ICOG Satellite School was launched on 18th September 2006 in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
    We envisage further Possibilities: 
    •  Telemedicine with linkages to District  Hospitals
    •  Training for SBA etc. could be considered for the rural sector

    Future Plans:
    •  Plan is to make DVD’s of all programs & send to all Medical Colleges & Societies at a nominal cost (cost of production)

  4. FOGSI-ICOG ETHISKILLS PROGRAMME
    The FOGSI-ICOG Ethiskills program was launched on 7th September 2006 in association with Ethicon Surgical Division of Johnson & Johnson. This course was developed for post graduate training in surgical skills again keeping in mind that 2006 was the year of the Youth and this was FOGSI’s contribution to our youth from Obgyn speciality .
    An MOU has been signed for 5 years between FOGSI & Ethicon Surgical Division of Johnson & Johnson.

  5. ACCREDITATION OF NURSING HOMES
    Accreditation of Nursing Homes of FOGSI Members for Reproductive, Maternal, neonatal  & child health services (RMNCH) – It is being conducted with the help of Govt.of India.

  6. WEBSITE
    Website is being looked after by Dr.Hema Divakar.  If is going to be made more interactive.

  7. ASTRAZENECA TRAVELLING PROFESSORSHIP
    Grant was received for only 1 year.  Dr.Pushpa Jhungare of Amravati visited Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack as a visiting Professor Dr.P.C.Mahapatra is scheduled to visit Agra early this year.

  8. CERTIFICATION COURSE:
    Seven centers have applied for Certification Course.
    Inspections have not been completed so far.  Reminders have been sent.

  9. ICOG – YUVA FOGSI:
    This year three programs of ICOG YUVA FOGSI were conducted.  Expenditure for this program was Rs. 10,000/- each.

  10. FELLOWSHIPS & MEMBERSHIPS

    Foreign Fellowship: (Travel Grants)
    Foreign Fellowship to (1) Dr. Neeta Singh, Delhi for the year 2006 and (2) Dr. Savita Rani Singhal, Rohtak for the year 2007 has been declared.

    Honorary Fellowship:
    Two members have been selected fro Honorary Fellowship:
    (1) Dr. Madhavan Nair, Bangalore                (2) Dr. Harshad Sanghvi, Maryland, JHPIEGO

    International Fellow 
    Dr. Agrawal Rina, London is awarded International Fellowship.

    Academic Fellows
    This year, Academic Fellowship has been given to six applicants.

    Membership has been given to 12 applicants.

  11. CREDIT POINTS WINNERS:
    This year there are total 9 credit points winners. Out of the same, certificates will be given to two credit points winners on 4th February 2008 at the convocation.   Certificates to rest of the 7 credit points winners will be sent by post.

  13. GUIDELINES FOR GOOD CLINICAL PRACTICE.
    Preparation of Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice has been initiated.  A few are ready and have been circulated.  Others will perhaps be ready shortly.  It is proposed to complete this task this year.  The document will be printed and distributed.

  14. CAMPUS NEWS
    Campus News is being printed and published with the support of Emcure Pharma.  It is good source of communication.

    Campus News also includes Correspondence Course.

  15. A new project on the anvil is the starting of a scholarship for taking specialized training in India.  For this a sum of Rs.5 lakhs has been received as a Donation from Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Presentation of at least 2 papers at State/ National / International / Congresses as First Author.

Fellowship payment of US$ 750 (Demand Draft or wire transfer in favour of ("F.O.G.S.I.") (one time payment)

4) Attendance of 2 FOGSI Sponsored Congresses in the last 10 years.
5) Presentation of at least 2 papers at FOGSI / FIGO / AOFOG / National / State Level Congresses as 1st author in the last 10 years.
6) Fellowship payment of Rs.15,000/- by Demand Draft payable at Mumbai in favour of“F.O.G.S.I.”.

1) Age above 50 years.
2) Holding a position of a Professor or Associate Professor at a Medical College / Hospital 9 to be attested by the Dean).
3) Holding of MD or equivalent qualification for 10 years or more.
4) Membership of FOGSI for 5 years or more.
5) Publications of 3 paper in any recognized Journal / chapter in textbook / articles in FOGSI Focus etc or more.
6) Attendance of 2 International / National / State Congresses or more.
7) Presentation of at least 2 papers at International / National / State Congresses at First Author.
8) Fellowship payment of Rs.15,000/- (Demand Draft in favour of “F.O.G.S.I.”).
