True Fellowship - Fraternity in Distress

When tragedy strikes families can be lost and distressed particularly in a situation where the support or protection of organized social security is lacking as in our country. This is even more acute with professionals who have to look out for themselves.

The FOGSI SSS is a fellowship scheme that in the true sense engenders a spirit of fraternity and togetherness among our members by encouraging their participation in a common cause and creating a reliable financial and emotional safety net for their loved ones in case of tragedy.

  • The FOGSI SSS is the only national scheme for our specialty, specially formulated for the mutual benefit the large family of FOGSI members.
  • The scheme will provide the entitled financial assistance to the families of membership of this scheme in the event of their demise.
  • It not only gives members the opportunity to help and support the bereaved families of professional colleagues but also creates a reliable source of financial support and solace in their time of need.

Membership Requirements

  • Any active member of FOGSI below the age of 60 years is eligible to participate as a member of this scheme on fulfilling certain basic requirements
  • There is an admission fee that varies according to age at the time of enrollment from Rs.1000 to 10000
  • Each member receives a laminated certificate recording the details and confirming the chosen nominations for their own documentation and easy reference

How the Scheme Works

Administrative Issues

The FOGSI SSS has been set up as an important independent activity of the federation with a dedicated constitution, administrative structure and accounting system. Every member of the scheme will make an annual contribution as required by events during the previous year.

  • An Advance Fraternity Contribution of Rs.1500 is collected along with the admission fee and membership fee This will be adjusted as Rs.100 per death of members during the preceding year.
  • Out of this amount Rs.90 shall be paid to the nominee of the deceased member, with Rs.10 being retained, for utilization for administrative expenses and to bridge any possible shortfall in overall collection.
  • At the beginning of the next   year, the amount used during the preceding year will be collected as a fraternity contribution from the member to maintain the AFC at Rs.1500.

Provision of Social Security

The FOGSI SSS has endeavoured to minimise the administrative formalities for its members.

  • At the time of membership application, every member specifies his/her preferred nominee.
  • On receipt of information from a nominee about the death of the member, the nominee is paid the fraternity contribution as per entitlement under this scheme and the balance if any lying in the Advance Fraternity Contribution account.
  • The nominee receives the requisite payment by cheque, crossed in the name of the nominee identified by the member.
  • There is also a provision to name an alternate nominee as per the member’s discretion.

We invite you to participate in this important scheme and take advantage of the inaugural schemes offered. The benefits of the FOGSI SSS will be directly proportional to the total membership of the scheme and so it is in our collective interest as fellow professionals that you submit your application for membership at the earliest.
