Cancellation of FOGSI Chairperson’s Post Election

Dear Colleagues,

As you are aware the process of elections for the post of Chairperson, FOGSI Committees was underway. Unfortunately a number of issues have came to notice since the initiation of the process of acceptance of nominations which suggested areas of lack of clarity and varied interpretation in the eligibility criteria defined for candidates for this election due to which the Returning Officers recommended cancellation of the ongoing election process and reinitiation after addressing and clarifying grey areas to the President of FOGSI.

Dr. Sanjay Gupte, President, FOGSI has granted the FOGSI Office permission to cancel the election process and to defer the same to after the Managing Committee and General Body meetings of FOGSI in September 2010.

It is hereby formally communicated to all concerned that the elections for the post of Chairperson, FOGSI Committees stand cancelled.

These will now be conducted under criteria defined and time line adopted at the Managing Committee and General Body meetings of FOGSI in September 2010.

This decision is formally communicated to Member bodies, members of the Managing Committee and all the candidates who had accepted nominations to contest the cancelled elections. This is a painful and difficult decision but under the circumstances we believe it would be the best interest of FOGSI.
