Subject: PCPNDT Act & FORMATION OF DOSST (Doctors Opposing Sex Selected Termination of Pregnancy) in each & every Ob. & Gyn. society of FOGSI.
Dear Colleague,
Wish you a Happy, Healthy, Bright & Prosperous New Year 2012.
As you are aware the Female/Male ratio at birth is dwindling in our country. This was the reason for introduction of PNPDT Act & later PCPNDT Act.
FOGSI is committed to stop this heinous crime of sex selected foeticide. There are blacksheeps in all the organizations, but because of them the rest of the community is blamed. We have been getting complaints about so called HARRASSMENT by appropriate authorities from FOGSI members performing USG. FOGSI wrote to the minister of health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Govt. of Maharashtra. We also wrote to Chief Minister of Maharashtra & had two meetings. We wrote to Chief Secretary, Ministry of H&FW repeatedly & provided evidence of harassment.
FOGSI also met Minister of H&F.W., Govt. of Gujarat. Representation was made to all possible authorities in connection with PCPNDT Act by FOGSI time & again.
The good news is that in the Central Supervisory Board (CSB) meeting of PCPNDT Act held on 14/1/12 in Mumbai, it was decided that all the Gynaecologists with degree or diploma recognized by Medical Council of India (M.C.I.) can perform USG without undergoing any training. We have not received any written confirmation about it as yet.
It has been observed by us & appropriate authorities that majority of cases of sealing the USG machines are because of incompletely filled forms. I will put up an ideally filled form F on FOGSI’s website.
Let us be proactive now. FOGSI has decided to help all FOGSI members doing USG by forming a committee called DOSST in each & every Ob. &Gyn Society of FOGSI. DOSST is Doctors Opposing Sex Selected Termination of Pregnancy. These committee members will visit FOGSI members of respective society doing USG & will guide them in avoiding any problem at the hands of appropriate authority.
I am sending along with this email, as an attachment all the details related to DOSST. I humbly request you to form DOSST committee and inform FOGSI office about formation of it.
